As far as I can tell... if they don't have anyone with roles to take out, then they'll go after whoever's been the loudest or seems the most likely to stand up to them. They went after the mayor first, after all. They might have gone after Connor to finish the job if he'd shown more of a sense of purpose... They haven't taken out the Major, but he's likely a demon himself, right?

If they don't strike at the Maddened, it'll be someone else who didn't hesitate at executing the possessed. If I was a demon, I'd go after that Cassius. He's not the smartest person there, but he's loud and determined, and that can do a lot of damage.
