Lost Souls

[You don't wake up, exactly, but at some point you come to. There's something wrong with you, a numbness and translucency. Should you try to touch something, your hand will pass through it. Why, it's as if you were a ghost. So that's the bad news. Sorry about that. The good news is that mentally, you've woken up entirely. You remember the real truth of who you are, your relationship to your so-called "family," and all the other lies you've been fed by the Shimmering Lady.

You can move freely around what you will soon realize to be the village. The reason why it may take moment of realization is simply because it doesn't look anything like you remember it. The sky is black, the grass is dead, and the cottages are run-down and shoddy concrete buildings. The pond is dirty, and there are no animals whatsoever, anywhere.

And the temple. It's more like a storehouse than a temple. The Shimmering Lady is there, or that mass of flesh and tendrils that calls itself the Shimmering Lady...

She doesn't seem to see or hear you. When the others exit their "homes," neither will they. And there's some strange force keeping you within the walls...]

((Popcorn, mingle, curse the Lady, etc! Also! There will be a special thing for you to do here once Night 01 starts. Watch for it~ :>))

[Oh, please don't misunderstand -- he's right behind you there, friend. This morning has been a headache at best and an absolute nightmare at worst. Since he's not terribly fond of expressing what few emotions he does have, however, he's just sticking to dry sarcasm in order to convey his annoyance.]

Yes; your memories should be returned to their proper state. However... for the time being, 'dead' people like ourselves are incorporeal, so if you were thinking of going to warn the others... [Well, it's not happening.]
ill_hearted_gentleman: (The old one kind of was.)

Yes, of course. If such a thing were possible, we surely would've noticed something yesterday.

[ Another long-suffering sigh. ]

I see now the true nature of the Lady, are we privy to the same information about the "demons" we have been pitted against?
tellurianterror: (how is this imbecile even real)

[personal profile] tellurianterror 2014-12-04 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
No, unfortunately.

Only that the... creature is not only able to separate the villagers' souls from their body at will, but to return them as well. She summoned them to the center of town last night.

[Also, we punched Tadashi.]

[Now that you mention it...]

...No. All but one. He was still awake at the time.
ill_hearted_gentleman: (In the keywords I mean.)

Ah, yes, Connor was on the Night Watch last night. He would not have slept. But if she drew all of the others out to her....

[ His hand goes back to his face with yet another sigh. This is just. An extremely sigh-worthy situation. ]

It seems our "demons" are just as much of a farce as everything else.
tellurianterror: (please tell me more)

[personal profile] tellurianterror 2014-12-04 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Right. Even if she didn't make all the decisions herself, her brainwashing would lead the others to act according to her wishes. ...In a way, he's almost glad that he doesn't have to be a pawn in this.]

Which brings up the question, then, of why.

[Experimentation? Ritual? Boredom?]
ill_hearted_gentleman: (I have a STANDARD to uphold.)

[personal profile] ill_hearted_gentleman 2014-12-04 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ More sighing. It's like he's going for a record here. ]

Who can say? She is clearly inhuman, so her motivations may very well be equally inhuman.

Indeed. [And now it's his turn to sigh heavily. What a mess.] I have yet to see anything of particular note here, so for the time being, it seems that the only option is to watch and wait. [At the very least, he's eager to see what happens to that roboticist, the elder brother...]
