Demons - Night 01

[Returning to the true temple is like a breath of fresh air after having to put up with the Shimmering Lady's filthy lies all day. The Glimmering Gentleman is there waiting for you with that pearly-white smile that brightens up the room.]

I can see you've all had one heck of a wild day. Is there anything I can get you while you work things out tonight? Snacks, drinks?

[Banjou can't... really control Tsukiyama but he can at least talk to him, maybe.

He's not about to suggest going after his own brother.]

There hasn't been enough time, but we need to think about who could have gone after the police officers last night.

[fauxlosophical]

[Oh, don't worry, Kimblee's unimpressed enough to suggest it himself if they don't have any better ideas by the end of the night, and he's fairly sure Isaac is too.]

That's a concern, yes...we'll have to see if a pattern emerges, won't we.

[irenicly]

[...but he doesn't want to vote for his brother.]

The Lady is pretty bad at this, isn't she?

[Dammit, Banjou. Think of someone so you can spare your brother.]

We're lucky she didn't keep track of who she gave roles to.

It's also promising in that she has no idea who we are.

[He'd been worried yesterday she knew who they were and this was entirely a farce, yes...]

Maybe it's my own bias, but Spencer-san was pretty insistent on getting rid of Yao-san today.

It's possible he's the one who wrote the note, and if that's the case, we can't go after him unless things go badly.

[It's really looking like Tsukiyama is the one facing the chopping block, isn't it...

But his brother won't die. They'll weaken the Lady, and save everyone who's been put to sleep. It'll be okay.]

We should observe Eliot during the next trial, I think. Maybe he simply is a man willing to cast somebody to the flames despite having no concrete leads. People who vote in a way that benefits us could be useful to have around.

[ ... ]

...Oswin mentioned being linked to Bulat during the trial, didn't he?

[irenicly]

He might be. It's hard to tell, isn't it?

[....hold on, that's right.]

I remember Oswin-san saying something like that, yes.

If we focus on taking out the linked pairs, it'll cut down on the number of Faithful quicker than if we don't.

[culinarian]

Yes. Of course, there is the possibility that the Templar will protect them because they outed themselves as a pair... But that does not mean we shouldn't target one of them; it's also possible that they will choose Kimblee.

[irenicly]

If Kimblee's gamble worked, the Templar might protect him.

Even if we go after them and nothing happens because the Templar has decided to protect them, there's someone else taking people out, too. The Faithful won't notice a difference.

[culinarian]

[ He nods. ]

Exactly. I say we target those two and hope the Templar protects somebody else.

[irenicly]

With any luck, the Templar will protect Kimblee-san.

I dunno how I feel about a plan that goes "hopefully the Templar will pick someone else." That doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence! Chances are, the Templar's gonna go for someone who outed themselves as something, so it could be Kimblee, or it could be Oswin and Bulat. I think we're better off and safer picking a little more randomly—"give them patterns where none exist," remember?

Who would you suggest?

No one in particular, I guess, just not somebody who stands out too much, importance-wise. That guy with the weird bird, the lady who decided she was gonna be everyone's attorney all at once, the one who was yelling about porn stars on top of the roof, um—whatsherface at the restaurant...

[irenicly]

[No, why would you suggest the comic relief?!]

.......That porn star guy was a little strange, you're right.

A little? He got up on the roof, singled out the poor clothing store girl, and yelled at everybody about how he was gonna be a porn star in the middle of a real serious discussion!

And then he couldn't get down.

[irenicly]

[....you'll have to excuse Banjou, he had been trying to get as far away from that as possible. He didn't stick around for it beyond the whole "I want to be a porn star" thing.]

Targeting might throw people off tonight, but I still think going after people we know are bonded is the better choice.

I have to agree with Mr. Banjou in that regard - Oswin and Bulat would be the logical choice, despite the fact that it's something of a gamble.

...I also think it may be safest if Isaac and I target Fulbright tonight. In the event that he's the Avenger, we don't need him becoming overzealous in his quest for justice, do we.

No. Let's nip that in the bud now.

We'll handle that, then.

I think we're pressing our luck, but if you insist. Blocking Fullbright's definitely a good idea, though.

The faster we can take out the soulmates, the faster this can be over, and the more lives we can save. I think it's worth it.
